Join our 7-night swimming with whales and scuba diving trip in Timor Leste, November 16th - November 23st, 2026!
Timor-Leste is one of the last true frontiers for divers and ocean lovers — a place where wild encounters are still raw, rare, and deeply moving.
From October to December, the deep waters of the Ombai and Wetar Straits transform into a natural highway for some of the ocean’s largest travelers. Here, you’ll have the incredible opportunity to swim alongside migrating whales — from majestic blue whales and sperm whales to pods of playful dolphins. The experience is entirely natural, with the captain carefully positioning us so we can quietly slip into the water and witness these gentle giants passing by. It’s one of the most humbling and awe-inspiring experiences the ocean can offer.
Beyond the whales, diving in Timor-Leste is extraordinary. The reefs here are pristine, bursting with hard and soft corals, and alive with an astonishing diversity of marine life. You can expect everything from tiny macro critters — pygmy seahorses, frogfish, and nudibranchs — to larger encounters like reef sharks, turtles, and swirling schools of fish. With very few divers visiting compared to other parts of Southeast Asia, the sites feel untouched, offering the rare chance to explore healthy reefs with hardly anyone else around.
Timor-Leste is the perfect blend of big animal encounters and vibrant reef diving, making it a dream destination for those seeking something different, raw, and unforgettable.

Trip leader and underwater photography
Tiani Dun will be our photography trip leader, you'll receive personalized guidance and expert advice from her to capture stunning images throughout the trip.
She will conduct a full photography workshop and photo review sessions with each participant, ensuring individualized attention for photographers of all levels.
Tiani is an underwater photographer from Australia. She studied a Master of Marine Biology (MS) at James Cook University and has brought her passion for science and the arts together into the work she does today.
Filming and photographing marine life began as a passion when Tiani started studying, but she very soon realised that she preferred to be behind the camera and under the water than she did in the office. So she traded her work shoes for fins, and never looked back! As a PADI scuba instructor, Tiani's work has taken her to the tropical islands of Malaysia, Fiji, Thailand, and all over Australia. When on land, she writes for Ocean Conservation initiatives, mentors students and gives marine biology lectures at schools and universities in Southeast Queensland.
Tiani's favorite style of photography is macro, and she has an incredible ability to steer almost any conversation toward her favorite animals – nudibranchs. On her safety stop, you will find her practising her bubble rings and taking selfies with everyone. Tiani loves nothing more than sharing her love for the ocean and its creatures with others. Her passion for underwater photography is evident, and her experience in marine conservation brings a chance to learn and discover more on our trips!
