Join our 9-night Liveaboard UW photo dive trip on the Rocio Del Mar, April 14th - April 23rd, 2028!
The legendary Revillagigedo Archipelago—often referred to as Mexico's Galápagos—is one of the world's most extraordinary big animal diving destinations. Located over 250 miles (400 km) off the southern coast of Baja California, this remote UNESCO World Heritage Site offers unforgettable encounters with some of the ocean's most iconic marine life.
Here, every dive is different. Giant oceanic manta rays approach divers with remarkable curiosity, often staying close enough for unforgettable interactions. Schools of hammerhead sharks cruise effortlessly through the blue, while Galápagos, silky, silvertip, whitetip reef, blacktip, and even tiger sharks patrol these nutrient-rich waters. Massive schools of jacks, tuna, barracuda, and wahoo create breathtaking underwater scenes, while playful dolphins frequently join divers underwater.
With six full days of diving, this itinerary offers more underwater time than most Revillagigedo liveaboards, giving you even more opportunities to experience this incredible marine sanctuary.
Diving in April
April is one of the best times of the year to experience the magic of Revillagigedo. The giant oceanic manta rays are incredibly active and are known for their curious, interactive behavior, often approaching divers for close and unforgettable encounters.
April also falls within the peak humpback whale season. While diving, you can often hear the haunting songs of male humpbacks echoing through the water, creating a truly unforgettable atmosphere. Surface sightings of mothers with calves and breaching whales are common during crossings between the islands.
Shark encounters remain exceptional throughout the month, with regular sightings of hammerhead sharks, Galápagos sharks, silky sharks, silvertips, whitetip reef sharks, blacktips, and the occasional tiger shark. Large schools of jacks, tuna, barracuda, and other pelagic fish complete the spectacular underwater scenery.
With generally warm, clear water, abundant pelagic life, and the chance to experience both manta rays and humpback whales on the same expedition, April offers one of the most rewarding dive experiences anywhere in the world.
